Meditation Classes and Coaching - Dr Judi Sharifi

Judi is an experienced doctor of counselling psychology and a qualified mindfulness teacher, registered with the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA) which ensures quality of teaching with integrity, depth and adherence to the highest professional standards. Mindfulness is a quality that entails being awake to all that is present in and around you. Jon Kabat Zinn, the founder of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) defines it as: “the awareness that arises when paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgementally”.

The intention of the MBSR course is to enable you to learn how to embrace life in the present, letting go of worrying about the future, or dwelling on the past. Each week you will learn how to meditate through a variety of practices, which include sitting, standing, moving/stretching, walking and lying down. You will learn how to become aware of your body and its physical sensations, as well as its connection to emotions and thoughts. Most importantly, you will be training how to manage the habits of the mind, so that you gradually become more adept at noticing when the mind wanders and learn how to observe your thoughts, instead of getting caught up in them.

Drop In/Taster MBSR Sessions available at The Bodywork Centre Fridays: 8.15-8.45am

8 week courses also available - please contact Dr Judi Sharifi for more details
