Audiology - Gavin Smith

Gavin Smith BA(Hons) RHAD – Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registered hearing aid audiologist with over 14 years of experience. Has been testing hearing in Hexham and the surrounding area for over 9 years 8 of those with the biggest optical chain in the Uk located in the town.

Having spent 6 years as a company director for the biggest private provider of hearing instruments on the high street I became increasingly disenchanted. Their approach is purely volume and profit driven and due to the time pressures the service was becoming much more impersonal.  This led to establishment of my independent business with a much more holistic and individualistic approach with a high emphasis on quality rather than volume.

We provide no obligation hearing assessments followed by a full explanation. If required and we have access to a full range of digital technology from the leading manufacturers in the field. Impartial advice is intrinsic to the consultation and there are no ties to manufacturers unlike the big high street providers.

In addition to this we can do wax removal by micro-suction ( not to be confused with syringing), custom noise protection, hearing aid repairs and service from all providers and range of assistive devices for telephone and tv etc.

Cranio-Sacral Therapist - Melanie Postill

Melanie qualified in Physiotherapy in 1992 and has worked in the NHS and in private practices. Melanie began seeing the benefits of Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST) whilst working at a private physio practice in North Yorkshire, this led to her studying with The Upledger Institute in 2003. She integrated CST into her physio practice and saw improvements in client's symptoms that would not have responded to her traditional physio techniques.

During her physio career, Melanie was fortunate to be able to study many post-graduate courses, one of which was " Acupuncture for the relief of pain". This led to an interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine and ultimately into studying Shiatsu with the Newcastle College. Melanie gained a professional certificate in Shiatsu in 2008.

Nowadays, Melanie enjoys working holistically with clients, practising either CST or Shiatsu on the background of her extensive physio knowledge.
